IMPROVED MAIL SERVICE.

The public will be interested to learn of the increased postal facilities provided for the Hutt residents. A mail now closes in Wellington at 7 p.m. for the* Hoitt. On arrival this mail is immediately sorted and delivered into privateboxes. The result of this innovation is that the morning mail from ■Wellington, will be much reduced in weight, thusenabling the postmen to leave on their rounds at 8.30 each morning. In addition, a direct bag is received at Lower Hutt by the Nelson boat, thus enabling this correspondence to be delivered by the postman on tke first round each morning. As the mail sorters under the new arrangement will "come on dutyat 6 a.m., no difficulty will be experienced in dispatching the postmen at 8.30 a.m. daily. PRIVATE BOXES. Private box holders will reap the most benefit from this improved service; asat 8 p.m., they may collect a letter which has been posted in Wellington an hour earlier and reply in time for th& business man in the city to deal with it among his morning correspondence. It is not generally known that there are a number of private boxes available for lease at 3/- per annum, and the box lobby is open from 6 a.m., to 10 p.m.
