A petition was presented to the House of Representatives yesterday by T. E. Mills, of Lower Hutt, who sought a compassionate allowance owing to an injury allegedly received in the railway service. Mr. Walter Dyer of Lower Hutt has unfortunately been compelled to retire as a candidate for Otaki owing to illhealth, and Mr. Sievwright will now cany the United Party's banner.
