HUTT VALLEY LAWN TENNIS ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETNG.

A large attendance of delegates from clubs affiliated with the Hutt Valley Lawn Tennis Association assembled at the Hutt Central School last week for the annual meeting of that body. New clubs represented were Petone Central, St. James, and the Hutt Bowling and Tennis Club. .

The report of last season's activities showed that much had been attempted and accomplished during the season, foremost being the fact that the Association had linked up with the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association. Regret was expressed that there were still several clubs in the district who had not affiliated with flic local association, but were playing in an Inter-club competition organised by the Wellington L.T.A. It was unanimously decided to discuss the matter with Wellington to- see if some better arrangement may be arrived at so that tennis in the Hutt Valley may be placed on a better footing.

The balance sheet showed the financial position to be on the right side of the ledger. The secretary, Mr. A. C. Clark reported that nothing further had been heard of the Gear.lsland Sports Ground Scheme, so the meeting decided'to write to Mr. Strand asking if there was any other land available in the Hutt for the purposes of laying several tennis courts.

The Hutt Valley Tournament will commence on 27th Octobery, and games will be played fortnightly throughout the season in two grades—senior and junior—entries closing on 18th October.

The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. J. M. Power; Chairman, Mr. R. D. Smith; Secretary, Mr. A. C. Clark; Treasurer, Mr. F. Stoupe; Auditor, Mr. R. Wright; Delegates to the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs Clark, Colquhoun, and Usmar. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the secretary for his untiring efforts on behalf of the Association.
