CARILLON BELL.

At a meeting of subscribers to the Hutt Valley War Memorial Carillon Bell held on 16th August, a sub committee was appointed with authority to sanction the paying over of the Hutt'a share of the cost of the Bell when advised as to the actual cost. A letter has now been, received from the Wellington. Society stating that the estimated cost of Bell No. 10 was £312 but as the committee had, on advice, ordered a heavier Bell, the cost would be increased by £31 4/ —£343 4/-. Paid in by Petone Com. £126 12 10 Bal. for which Lower Hutt responsible .. . . £216 11 2 \£343 4 0 he sub committee met on 11th inst and authorised the secretary to pay over to the Treasurer of the Society the above amount. This will leave a balance of £9, plus Saving Bank interest, and at the request of the sub-committee the Society Las agreed tiiat space, i'rue of cost, for the erection of a tablet in memory of those from the Lower Hutt who fell in the Great War. The balance will be held and an audited balance sheet published when the tablet has been arranged for.
