BUSINESS MEN'S ASSOCIATION.

A general meeting of the Lower Hutt I Business Men's Association was heLi last week to consider the question of holding a Shopping Week. The President of the Association, Mr. Justin M. Power, who presided, pointed out that such an effort was the only means of outward manifestation the Association had of appealing to the public, and went on to emphasise the fact thy.t if such an effort were taken up it must receive the general support of the business people of the town or it could i ot succeed. An effort should be made to induce the Hutt people to realize the idvantages of patronising the local shops. The date for making the effort was fixed for November Bth to 16th. It was decided to offer a prize of one guinea for the person supplying the most appropriate slogan to be used.

A well attended meeting of the Hutt Business Men's Association was held on Monday evening to make arrangements for the holding of a Shopping Week in November. Strong Committeees were set up to organise the effort and were composed of Amusement and Sports Committees, Finance, Advertising, and Propoganda, Window Display and Lighting. It was decided to hold all future meetings at the Lounge, each Monday eveniing at 8 o'clock.
