Miss Bernau is the guest of Mrs Hayward. Mr. H. Bonaldson, Christehurch, is visiting Lower Hutt. Mr and Mrs G. F. Millward, Wanganui, ai*e on a visit to Lower Hutt. Mrs Godfrey Payne and her little daughter Pattie, are on a visit to Lower Hutt. Mrs (Dr.) Leahy, Napier, is the guest of her mother, Mrs H. M. Hayward. Mr W. H. Leighton, who returned home last week after a fifteen months' adventurous tour round the world, was entertained by the St. James 'a Club Old Boys Association on Tuesday evening. Miss Ailsa Nicol of Belmont won the ladies ' vocal championship at the recent Christchurch Competitions. Last year Miss Nicol was successful in winning both the senior and the junior scholarships at Christchurch and received high ' praise from the adjudicator, Mr B. North. Prior to his departure on transfer to Sydenham Branch of the Bank of N.Zi, Mr A. G. Bean of the local staff was the recipient of a wristlet watch from the officers of the Bank. Mr Heifer, the manager, made the presentation and in a few words expressed his apprecia•tion of Mr Bean as a diligent and com- ! petent worker and wished him good luck in the future. Mr Bean suitably. responded.
