At the Lower Hutt Borough Council meeting on Monday night the Mayor stated he" wished to give a warning tocyclists who rode on. the bitumen road at night. Mr >J". O. Maitland has returned from a trip to the South. All supporters of, the Wafwetu Parents' Association should reserve Saturday, 7th July, for the Fancy Dross Dance; fun will bo fast and furious. Various Gift Afternoons and Bridge Parties are being held in honour of Miss Lorna Chapman's approaching marriage to Mr John Millward, which will take place on 10th July in the Church of S.S. Peter and Paul. Last Saturday afternoon Mrs Chapman entertained a number of guests at her beautiful home in Woburn Read. Mrs Chapnian and her daughter dispensed a dainty afternoon tea and were indefatigable in their attentions to their guests. Music and various amusements contributed also, to a delightful afternoon. jMr James Stonehouse has been nominated by the Eastern Hutt and Waiw.etu School Committees for a seat on the Wellington Education Board. Mr Stonehouse has served the district well :for the past four' years and we trust that he will be returned unopposed. JMr Stonehouse takes a keen interest .in educational matters and is ever to the \ fora in advocating the requirements of the Hutt Valley.
