HUTT RIVER BOARD

A special meeting of the Hutt River Board was held on Tuesday but as the majority of the business related to the proposed acquisition of various area's of land adjacent to the river the- board went into committee to* discuss the proposals. The only matters dealt with in. open board were a communication from the Civic Association, asking that the board should exercise care when gorse and noxious weeds were cut down on the board's stopbanks, as it was alleged that stock had died through eating thes cuttings, and a letter from the City and Suburban Water Board requesting the board to define the area it required for tree planting. It was decided in regard to the first to ask the association for particulars and in regard to the second to leave the question in the hands of the chairman (Mr W. T. Strand).
