THE HUTT BRIDGE
The Engineer (Mr A. Gr. Bush) reports that an average of IS men were employed by the Contractor during the month and fair progress is being made. The River Board's pile driving plant and staff have been employed by the contractor in driving temporary piles for the support of the boxing for spans 3, 4, and 5. The broken weather during the last fortnight er so has delayed the erection of piers 3 and 4. Up to date 114 piles have been driven and driving is completed in piers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 and the east abutment. Another four piles will complete pier No. 2. Only high floods will affect the driving of pier No 1 and the west abutment. The super structure of piers 5, 6 and 7 has been completed and the deck up to panel level in the parapets has been placed for spans 7 and 8, and span 6 is now being boxed.
