OUR MEMBER IN CANADA

The following letter has been repeived from the Hon. T. M. Wilford, M.P. from Ottawa, Ont, written on the 16th March: — ". . . . We arrived in Candaa on March Ist and it is a wonderful country. I am feeling better than I have felt for many months. Yesterday the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Hon. R. Lemieux (a Liberal), gave a luncheon for me in the House of Commons and asked the Prime Minister, the Eight Honorable W. Mackenzie King (Liberal), the Minister of Finance the Hon. Mr Robb, (Liberal), the Minister for Justice ,the Hon. La Pointe, (Liberal), the Leader of fehe Opposition Hon. Mr Bennett (Conservative and the principal bankers, judges and prominent citizens to meet me. He made a speech of welcome and got me to talk on the Singapore Base. Since then invitations to speak are pouring in from all parts. The Empire Club of Canada, composed of 1500 business men lately addressed by Hon. Amery and Right Hon. Mr Baldwin (Prime Minister of England), have offered to pay my expenses to go to Toronto and speak to them. Unfortunately I found it impos?iblo to accept the invitation. Last night in the Senate ,the Hon Mr Boetock, the Speaker, gave a banquet to myself and Mrs "Wilford and asked the prominent Parliamentarians and their wives to meet us. It was a brilliant affair and we were the guests of honour. They gave us a right royal welcome. To-day the wife of the Speaker of the House of Commons is giving a luncheon to any wife in the House of Commons, and tonight we meet the members in an allround conference on Empire matters. I haven't a minute to myself. Ottawa is the seat of Government and although there are provincial governments, the main one ;~ 1i "w in Ottawa."
