NEWS AND NOTES
The Anglican Boys' Home Association football team have been very successful this season, winning the Thorps Shield, the District Scout Banner, and finishing up two points behind the Hutt Valley League. This is an excellent performance for this young club, which is doing remarkably good work training young players, and reflects great credit on the coach, Mr. W. Haseltine. The same capable trainer has entered a team for the Hutt Valley Boys' Cricket Competition. More boys of 15 years and under are wanted to form teams to enter this competition. ♦ * * A popular and well known member of the local post office staff, in the person of Mr. F. A. Dunstall, left recently on transfer to the position of postmaster at Kimbolton. During his sojourn in the Hutt Valley he proved himself to be a most courteous and obliging officer and gained the esteem of a wide circle of friends. On the eve of Mr. Dunstall's departure, members of the staff gathered together, and through their postmaster (Mr. Wallace) presented him with a Loewe pipe and Morocco tobacco pouch as an indication of his popularity among his fellow officers. We wish Mr. and Mrs. Dunstall future prosperity and success. ♦ ♦ * The well known jewellery business for many years controlled by Mr. H. S. Langdon has been purchased by Mr. H. L. Praser, who will trade under the name of Fraser's Jewellery and Gramophone Depot, at No. 1 Main Street. Mr. Fraser has been connected with the jewellery business in Wellington and will place his long city experience at the disposal of the Hutt public. The stock, an entirely new one, is worthy of inspection. The repair department will be under Mr. Fraser's personal supervision. ♦ ♦ * The secretary of the Hutt Valley Swimming Club informs us that the medals refrerred to in our last issue had no connection with his club. The only medal competed for through that club was won by P. Jamesson and was presented by Mr. G. T. Parkin.
Arrangements have been made to hold the St. James' Garden Fete in St. James' Hall should the weather prove unkind. This course will only be necessary in the case of very heavy rain, as the grounds at "Eastward Ho" are very well sheltered.
