CORRESPONDENCE.
Sir, —I wonder if you have room in your valuable paper to voice the grievances of, parents of the children who are at present receiving their education in Knox Schoolroom? When Tommy comes home with a fresh cold an,d boots that look like a mud heap almost every day, we feel we would like to know who are the powers that be, so that we may deal with them. ' Is this unsatisfactory state of things to go on indefinitely? There has been talk of a new school in this district for months, but by the time we get it we will need two, unless it is started very soon. I believe the Eastern Hutt School Committee have spared no efforts in their endeavour to get more and better accommodation, but either the Education Board or the Department are very hard to manage. If they could see about 100 boys playing in that mud pool and then trying to do lessons in a cold, unsuitable building, with wet feet and mud-stained clothes, they might speed up the building of our new school. The parents of the district have always been ready and willing to assist in the raising of funds, to improve conditions at the school, and we find it difficult to take too lightly that our children should be asked to endure the conditions that exist at the temporary school. I do not desire to take up too much space, though there is much more that I would like to say, but trust that some abler pen than mine will take up the cudgels on behalf of the !many Tommies that are attending ;Knox Schoolroom.—Yours, etc., MOTHER. Lower Hutt,
