COUNCIL ASSOCIATE MEMBERS

Under the Municipal Corporations Act a Borough Council is empowered to add to its numbers for advisory

purposes. Though those appointed cannot exercise a vote, they may be of much-service by being in .close touch with -the Council. This year, five appointments have been made, and we feelsure that all of those gen_tlemen chosen will throw their energies into the affairs of the Borough with an added interest. Two of the associates, Messrs. McGill and Carver, justified their appointment by the fact that they were the runners..up at the recent elections. Mr. Kidson, as headmaster of the High School, should be able to render valuable service in many directions. ' We are particularly pleased with the appointments of Captain Slinn and Deputy Doran to be associated with the Council's Fire Prevention Committee. Aparfe from the practical nature of the appointment, it is an appropriate compliment to pay to the splendid Volunteer Fire Brigade this has the good fortune to posS6SS* The fact that the name of Mr. G. A. Chapman has not been included as an associate is probably an oversight, for if there are any bouquets to be distributed, we venture, to. subjnji there is no individual in the Bprougn more worthy of recognition. Mr. Chapman works so energetically that many people naturally conclude he must be a Councillor, a super-engin-eer, or possibly Controlerissimo of Parks and Reserves.
