An Open Letter to the Mayor and Councillors of Lower Hutt

Gentlemen, we would direct your attention to our advertisement on the top right hand side of the "Hutt News," which says:—"There is no need to go out of the Hutt for your printing. The "Hutt News" is fully equipped to supply every requirement. Spending- your money—ratepayers' money—in the Hutt creates a demand for more local labour." You, gentlemen, are the custodians for the time being of our money, and we want the principle affirmed by this and succeeding Councils — "That (everything else being equal) all monies raised in this Borough shall be spent in this Borough—so that our money shall be re-distributed among those who have to find it." What say you, Gentlemen?
