HOKIO WATER SUPPLY.
(To The Editor.) Sir,—l venture to suggest an important improvement re water' supply at the llokio' beach village—-especially during the hot dry season. We know that whatever water is left in tho tanks as well as that from the stream 1 is poisonous: tho former consisting oi j sun-boiled: dregs and roof scourings; i the latter being over-tainted with an overdose of decaying vegetable mat- J ter and the oozing black juices from | I flax swamps, etc. Hither through j the agency of the council, or private- . ly, some arrangements sliould be- made j with a carrier to deliver, say twelve . to twenty drums of water (say every | other day) from the Maori Pa close j : fro the State Farm, to Hokio residents for (say) Is to Is 6d per drum. Painters have piles of these 5-gallon drums at the back of their premises). The carrier would also pick other jobs < n his return. lam sure it would pay , all health-seeking residents at Hos'o , and improve prospects of township, it j such arrangements could be made.-=-— I am. etc. H. ILEGER. We; r aro a, January 1, 1916.
