Supplies of new potatoes are now coming in more freely but tlie quantity available is not up to expectations and some consignments are showing signs of disease. The demand is good and excellent prices ar© being obtained. Wheat is still firm at recent rates. The market is fully supplied with maize and prices are wealvor. Oats are steady but little business doing. Pollard and bran show no change and there is a probability of Australia again coming in the market. There is a good demand for dressed pork and supplies are short. Eggs are scarce and prices remain firm. In view of Xmas requirements there i 6 an excellent demand for poultry and good prices are being realised. Vegetables.—Choice cabbage and cauliflower is in short supply and prices are higher. Lettuce is in good demand at satisfactory rates. Parsnips and carrots are scarce and meet keen competition. White turnips are now plentful and slow of sale. Spring onions and beetroot are readily bought up at satisfactory prices. The market is well supplied with rhubarb and prices are lower. Nelson green peas are more plentiful and prices have declined. Fruit.—Strawberries are in excellent rlealised. Cherries and gooseberries meet keen competition at satisfactory rates.
