* — CLEMENT MAY COMPANY AT LEVIN. i-'-vers of good humor, refined and intellectual tntertaiiimeut should not mks the opportunity of being present at the Century Hall 011 Wednesday, December 20th, when .Mr Clement May and his company will proient- one of the most delightful and enjoyable evenings of music, song and story. Mr -May has just concluded a most successful tour of India, Oeylon and tlio Far East, and is said to be one. of the finest and most successful entertainers yet seen, in those parts. His humor and pathos aie iresistible, one moment making the audience rock in their .seats with laughter, the next causing a slight huskinees in the throat and a suspicious dimness in the eye. Mr May has broken new ground with his powerful telling of the stories _of O. Henry ( (the king of short story writers). The works of this master of literature are becoming more widely known daily, and in the hands of such a master of his art as Mr .Clement May his characters live again. His stories both grave and gay have been received with the" greatest enthusiasm. During his present tour of New Zealand lie will introduce an extract from "The Sentimental Bloke," by C. J. Dennis. This masterpiece of Australian poetry, the selling of which has established a world's record, having entered its 52nd thousand, is still going strong. The theme, a Melbourne larrikin regenerated by love, is so humorous and at times so pathetic, tht it has drawn complimentary notices from all parts of the globe.

To the loyevs of the works of the immortal Clin l ies Dickens Mr May appeals most strongly, his delineations of the author's famous characters being most lifelike. Each character and' scene is presented in costume and detail so perfect that it might well ho the original. Tho Herald says:— "Through an amazing repertoire of stories, songs and Dickens' sketches ho went on his delightful way. Little Nell's grandfather lived once more, Dan'l Peggotty laid bare his tortured soul in thoughts of Little Em'ly and Sydney Carton bade farewell to the world and its woes." In these entertainments Mr May will be supported by .several high-class artiste, including: Miss Jessie Bartlett, the possessor of a fine contralto voice of great range. Mrs Clement May, who will be heard in several dainty songs, also in a humorous sketch in conjunction with Mr May. Mr Ernest Thomas, an excellent artist-, will be at the Piano.
