THE DELIVERY OP BREAD.
(To The Editor.) £'r.—a considerable) amount of misconception appears to exist among a section of the residents of Levin with respect to the agreement relating to delivery of bread between the bakers of Levin and myself, 1 wish, through the medium of your columns, to place the facts of the matter before the public.
The proposition that 1 diould undertake the work of delivering bread on •behalf of the bakers of Levin was made to me spontaneously by two local bakers without any soliciting or prompting on my part. They interviewed! me and asked if I was prepared to undertake the work. Afterwards the other bakers also agreed tliat I should be employed. An. agreement, embodying the terms, was prepared and aligned by all bakers carrying on business in (Levin. The terms of this agreement have been strictly observed and carried out by me. I understand that one baker (Mr Watson) considers he has a legitimate cause for complaint against me, but I have
merely carried out the terms of an agreement to whfich Mr "Watson was himself a jin'rty, which agreement he had signed. If Mr Watson contends that T failed or neglected in any way to carry out the terms of the agreement, I am perfectly willing, provided I obtain the sanctiom of the otlier ibakers to publish in your columns- the full text of the agreement which Mr Watson and myself signed, and leave to the public of Levin to decide for themselves as to whether T have or have not faithfully carried out the terms of my employment. At the time I entered into the agreement I considered, and stall consider, that n't was a step in the right direction and would prove of considerable benefit to the public.—
I am, etc.,
