The High Commissioner's market report, dated London, November 4, iis as follows, quotations unless otjlierw/ise stated being average market prices on spot:— Meat.—There is a poor demand for New Zealand mutton and lamb owing to the large supply of home-killed mutton. English lamb and Argentine beef is selling at comparatively low prices. New Zealand 1 mutton is very scarce at S:]d per lb. ewe mutton 8d; Argentine mutton, heavy-weight Bid, lightweight B§d; iNew Zealand lamb 91d; Argentine lamb BJd. There is very little New Zealand ox beef on the market, and only inferior quality is available. iNew Zealand ox beef, binds 7jd, fores 6sd; Argentine chilled beef, hinds Bj|d, fores 7Jd.

The butter Jnarket continues firm. Danish, owing to small supples, Is firmer at 214s to 218s; Irish creamery, small supplies, salted '196s to 200s, unsalted 200s to 204;; Canadian, salted 196s to 198s; the New Zealand spot market is bare, salted 200s to 2045, good fine quality salted 194s to 198s; Argentine salted 198s, unsalted 198s to 200s; American creamery, salted >186s to 190s. The cheese market lias a firmer tone dince last report. Canadian white Ills to 116s, coloured Ills to '116 s; English cheddar 124s to 1265; New Zealand, no official quotations, nonvnal quotations white 113s to 114s, United States flats 112s to* 113s. The estimated Canadian and United States cheese stocks in >Londio>n, Liverpool, and Bristol are 299,000 b-ixes. against 275.000 at the same time last year.

The hemp market is firm but unsettled, and too speculative. Quotations are nominal. Good fa>>r New Zealand hemp, per ton £53, fair £51: Governmen graded fair Manilla £54 10s. coarse £51 10s; January to 'March shipment, fiord fair New Zealand £52. fair £50; Government graded fair Manila £53 10s ; coarse £50 10s. The output of hemp and Manila for the week ended last Saturday is '1700 bales.

The wheat market is rather unsettled on account o-f Government control of prices. It has advanced since telegraphing. Quotations: Nominal Canadian £83 ex store, Australian 80s. New Zealand 76. Oats are firm; there fs more demand. Xew Zealand on spot 38s.
