The Daily Chronicle's Petrograd correspondent states that German intrigues, with the object of splitting up the Entente coaliion. are increasing in vigour as the Allies are gaining -oho upper hand in military operations and they are spreading rumours that England's determination to fight to a finish will prevent Russia from concluding an advantageous peace, hut Russia is indignantly rejecting the malevolent insinuations agairst England. Their latest suggestion is that Russia does not need Constantinople and only England opposed the freedom of the Straits which Germany could guarantee.
