■Accounts amounting to about £35 were pa-sad for payment, the bulk of which was for lied Cross 'material purchased by the ladies committee for the malting up of Red Cross requirements abroad.
The suggestion was madie to the ,lad-le-s' committee of the Red Cross Society till at they devote £25 of the money in hand ta the "Our Day" appeal from the British Red Cross Society, this bring a yearly appeal which is made throughout the British Dominions for funds to carry on the .Red Cross work amongst our soldiers and sailors. Last year the sum of about £90 was sent from Levin, the amount beng raised by a general appeal to the public and through collections made by the ladies but at that time there was not the iregular contributions of material and goods being despatched every month that is boing sent forward by the ladies now. The chairman outlined the work that had so far been done in pushing the County Fund scheme on, and also mentioned that it was proposed to visit Manakau on Tuesday night next. It was stated that about the sum of £50 will be realized* from <the special appeals that hare been made droning the last few weeks, as the result of the visit of the Mayoress of "Wellington to Levin recently. Of this money £25 is to be forwarded at once to Mrs Luke for the Christmas Gift Fund for our troops overseas, £10 is to be sent also far assisting in providing the Christmas dinners a.t the camps, and balance, about £20, will be forwarded shortly to be devoted to the regular gift parcels that are despatched at intervals to the men at the front.
■Mr Goldsmith isu'blmjittedi Itlie bal-ancc-shoet for the year's work, ended September 30th. and from which it was shown that the sum of £880 had been collected during the year far various funds, and that there was the sum of £309 in hand belonging to the various funds under the societies' care. The reptoirt of the visit of the Foxton concert party showed a credit balance of £13 13s 4d. The Pierrot concert at the Century Hall netted the sum of £18 lis; the enpenses far this effort amounting to only £1 'lis.
