AN IMPORTANT PROPOSAL. FROM VICTORIA. At a recent mooting of the council of the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria, the president, Colonel C. E. Merrett, submitted a resolution to tlie effect that it is desirable in the interests of the dairying industry that some effort should be made to improve the quality of many of the lower grade herds in that State, and with this object in view the council of the society deems it advisable to appoint a committee to consider and report upon »the following scheme. 1. The R.A.S. to secure young bulls from time to time from herds registered in herd hooks. 2. Allot these bulls when matured to such agricultural societies which may desire to secure same, and: which arc to be placed in the herds in the district of such (society. 3. Agricultural societies to accept the responsibility of ownership. but the animal is not to be disposed of without the consent of the R.A.S. 4. No charge to be made for the service of the bull. 5. No bull to be allotted; to a farm where another bull is kept. 6. Bulk to be kept in proper enclosure and housed, and not allowed to run with the herd. 7. Progeny of "Royal" bulls not to be registered in herdt books. 8. Owner of herd to permit veterinary inspection at any,time. 9. Reports to be furnished by agricultural societies to the R.A.S. every six months.
