N.Z. FARMERS' DISTRIBUTING CO. WOOL, SKIN AND HIDES SALE. A moderate offering of wool, mostly crutching, slieepskiins and hides was put before buyers on the above date. There was a fair attendance of buyers and competition was keen. The wool was in fair request and in spito of the recent increase of ldi in freight charges, values showed an improvement on previous sale rates. The same remarks apply to limg-woolled sheepskins, and afl tho lots on auction were fairly well cleared at from id to :]d per lb advance oil rates ruling a fortnight ago. The prospects oT both wool and sheepskins at the forthcoming main auctions appear to be bright. As far as our wools arc concerned we are holding them until the main sales on loth November next.
Hides.—These wore somewhat dearer with the exception of calfskins which in some instances were a little weaker. Super calfskins, however, were in good request and sold slightly in sellers,' favour. Southern potatoes have remained firm in price -since last report and aro about equal to the value of Australian potatoes, which are still being imported. Wheat has finned slightly and oats are stationary. Maize shows a change. Fair business is doing in pollard and bran at recent rates. Dressed pork is still in very short supply and the demand continues unsatisfied. Supplies of honey have come to hand and there is a fair demand. Eggs continue to be in excellent demand and prices remain same as last week. Linseed oil cake meal for stock feeding is being extensively usedi with excellent results.
Vegetables.—Large quantities of spring cabbage continue to arrive and values, are slightly weaker. Clioicc cauliflowers are ready sale. There is now a good enquiry for swedes. Carrots and parsnips are in good demand at high rates. White turnips are selling well. Celery, spring onions and leeks are in fair demand. The market is well supplied with rhubarb and satisfactory prices are being maintained. Green peas are arriving from Nelson and meet with read.v sale at
good prices. Fruit.—Large consignments of Californian .apples have reached this market in good order and meet ready sale. Choice local lines of cooking and dressapples are scarce and in good demand. Cabbage.—Choice, 6s 6d to 7s 6d. medium, 3s to 4s per sack. Cauliflower.—Choice 'lis to 10s 6di; medium 6s to 10s sack. Carrots.—Best 10s to 12s: others -5s to 6s 6d sack. Swedes.—ss to 6s 6d per cwt. Rhubarb.—Cs to 9s dozen bundles. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd. (Wellington) report on their fortnightly sale of wool, sheepskins, etc. Wo offered a fair catalogue of all classes of produce, including 100 of wool, mostly crutellings. Skins were sold on a par with last sale rates, with the exception of some fine crossTVredfl that realized 13} d. Hides were dearer to the extent of one-halfpenny. Calfskins were much firmer r>n last sale's quotations, but very few skins were sold at the prices quoted last sale. Most of the lines held were sold at prices on par with to-day's quotations. Crutchings were in sellers' favour as compared with the last sale on Ist September ,the increase bein gabout 3d to Id per lb.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. London, Oct. 11. Meat.—N.Z. mutton and lamb continue in good demand. There were no arrivals of Dutch mutton this week. Butter—The market is quiet. and prices are slightly weaker. Danish, demand is rather quiet, per cwt 208s to 2125; Irish creamery, salted. 194s to 198s. nnsalted 196s to 200s; Canadian, salted 196s to 198s; New Zealand, market is steady, salted 198b to 200s; American creamery, salted 181s to 188 s; Argentine, salted 194s to '1965. nnsalted 1965.
Cheese.—The market is firm <Tt the advance. Canadian market continues firm, white, per cwt.. 112s to 114s; coloured 112s to 114k; English Cheddar. in fair demand, 122s to 1245: New Zealand continues in good demand, white I'lOs to 112s; coloured 110s to 112s; States, flats, white 110s; coloured 110 s.
Hemp.—The market is firm with hardening tendency on account of scarcity of freights. Neiv Zealand market is firm but unsettled;, owing to reports concerning advance in shipping charges and doubt witli regard to arrival of shipments. Quotations are

The output of hemp at Manila for the week ending last Saturday was 20,000 bales. St-ocks of Xew Zealand, hemp on hand at the end of September were 430 tons.
