Sir Douglas Haig reports:— We delivered an attack in the afternoon on the low heights intervening on our front on the Bapauinc-Peronne road. We secured mm-csse*. The lighting continues. An Italian communique states:— The enemy four times attacked our new positions at Busalta. Besaglieri repulsed the attacks with the bayonet. ■We improved our gains on the Julian front. The total prisoners taken on the Julian front since August have been 30 871. BRITISH AND TURKISH PRISONERS. Negotiations for the exchange of unfit prisoners were proceeding. MONASTIR (MENACED. London, October 12. The oft-reported evacuation of Monaster has at last begun. French airmen report that the Germans hangars have been .removed. Oollumns and waggons are proceeding towards Prilep. A Serbian message states that the Cerna breaches the principal Bulgarian defences in the Monastir Valley. Heavy Serbian artillery is bombarding positions where the rearguard will probably make a last stand to facilitate u withdrawal from the town. Though the .Bulgarians still hold the Rabun a heights, the rear of Babuna in exposed to a new danger of envelopment. Tim Bulgarians constructed two good roacls along the Cerna, which tlu> Berbians will probably be able to to use to circumvent Babuna. It -is significant that some Bulgarian columns from Monastir have reinforced the Moglena section..
