In anticipation of possible iwportation from Australia the market for Southern patotocs lias weakened and a ■fair amount of business lias been passing. Wheat and oat. are very firm arid business quiet. The maize market eontinues dull and prices being maintainedi. The supply of dressed pork is still considerably short of the demand which continues keen. Honey is scarce. Eggs are in good, demand at last week's' rtites. Linseed old cake meal is Ijeing used in increasing quantities with satisfactory results. Vegetables. — Owing to the largely increased demand Tor military purposes all lines of vegetables are realizing high prices. Cauliflower and cabbage especially have shown a marked advance. Choice lines of lettuce cause keen competition. Parsnips, table; carrots and white turnips are in very good demand and meet ready sale. ■Celery', (spring onions ami leek.s are also selling freely. Swedes are slow. Rhubarb is arriving in increasing quantities and meets excellent demand at satisfactory prices. Fruit:—Choice dessert and cooking apples continue scarce and excellent prices are realising for well packed lines. Dessert pears are eagerly bought at high rate?.
