"A conference of local bodies located between .Wanganui and Raetihi was held here to-day to consider a proposal to form a railway district under the Local Railways Act, for purposes of constructing and running a railway from Wanganui to the Main Trun Line vria Waimarino district. A resolution moved il»y the mayor of Wanganui "that effect be given to the proposal is under discussion." FIRE AT NEW 7 PLYMOUTH. New Plymouth. This Day. A fire occurred early this morning on premises occupied by J. G. Morris (furnishing store) and Pellew (milliner). Tho building is owned by the Standisb Estate, and was insured in the Commercial Union: for £700. The damage is set down at £200. Morris and Pellow's stock is covered by the South British, and tTie damage to the 6tock is about £100 in each case.
