(Aufstia'.ia-tNew Zealand Cable Service.) The High Commission reports ■London. Sept. 14. A British official message states that the general situation is unchanged. Paris, September 15. When the French captured Lapriez Farm they found what resembled the famous "Labyrinth" in complexity. It was protected by ail unusual .number of blockhouses and other cement works with great numbers of machine guns.. Ibis formed the advanced, work of defending Combles. which is now isolated. Fricourt. in similar circumstances, fell within twenty-four hours.
St. Quentin is only 350 feet high, hut is protected, by three rivers, the Tordille on the north, the Somme on the west, and the Cologne on the south. There is only a single corridor to the east, from whence the Germians can receive a supply of shells. Tho French artillery has practically closed this corridor.

ITALIAN CA MP AIGN. London, Sept. 14. An Italian communique states:—We captured some important positions in the Zara Valley and on Monte Lugazuor and in the Travcnanzas-Boite valley. Italian battleplanes raided an arsenal and hydroplanes and hangars near Trieste. Large fires were observed. • AUSTRIA'S REPORT. Vienna, Sept. 14. A communique states :—There is fierce figliting in the Carpathians. Enemy attacks on Smotree, Ludowa audi Gapul mountain were repulsed with sanguinary losses. / Italian torpedoers. supported by air squadrons attacked Trieste. The damage was inconsiderable. ROUND SALONIKA. London, Sept. 14. A British official message from Salonika states :— Early on Thursday we advanced through Mueukova and. captured ia salient of the enemy's lines northward of the village. Considerable ground was gained and maintained despite despi t e cou nt er-a 11 a cks. BULGAKS RE-OOCUPY KAVALA. Athens, Sept. 14. The Bulgarians have re-occupied Kavali. The Greek garrison surrendered at the threat of a Bulgarian bombardment. British warships resuccd the rest of the population which fled panicstricken. Greek newspapers, as a mark of national shame, assumed morning in announcing the news. (United Service.) New York, Sept. 14. A Berlin wireless message announced that the 4th Greek Army Corps with headquarters at Kavala. placed itself in the hands of the Germans. [fc will be transported to Germany with arms and equipment as a neutral accepting German hospitality until Greece is freedi from foreign troops.
