Following are the figures for the I working of the municipal gasworks dur- [ ing the months on ding August 26th. i 'I he figures for the corresponding period of the previous year are given in parentheses:—Number of consumers 346 (321); meters in use 338 (309); coal in fitock 33 tons (60 tons) ; coal receive,t nil (35 tons); coal carbonized 12 tons (37 tons); street lambs 50 (49); stoves in use 110 (85) ; gas for street lighting 40,000 cubic feet (153,300 cubicfeet); gas for cooking 225,400 /cubic feet (177.500 cubic feet); gas for power 28.000 cubic feet (19,800 cubic feet); gn.s for slot meters 40,000 cubic feet (37.000 cubic feet); g'.is for house .and .showroom 3800 cubic feet (4000 cubic feet : gas for library 6800 cubic feet (6000 c übic feet) : gas for borough chamber* 5700 cubic feet (5000 cubic feet); gas for works 2000 cubic feet (3000 cu.b'c feet); gas manufactured 509,600. cubic feet (454,600 cubic feet); total output 503,600 cubic feet (448,600 cubic feet): gas per ton of echl carbonized 11,900 cubic feet (12,000 cubic feet); ga.<s unaccounted for 6000 cubic feet (6000 cubic feet); estimate of meters not read 3000 cubic feet (3000 cubic fee).
