Best War Films Yet

CAMERAS IX THE "BIG IT 81*1." The .sixth series of official war films taken on the .British front were shown., privately yesterday, says the London Daily Mail of July 9th. They are the finest yet produced. The first' picture, .shows a howitzer battery in action, and an airman with observer starting to direct the firing. Some very fine pictures taken from the 'aeroplane show the German lines and give an idea of tho way in which

wireless messages ®re sent to the gun stations -below r.nd telegraphed to the batteries. The second picture of the series is undoubtedly one of the greatest ever ' taken for the cinema. The whole of tho process of mining the enemy trendies, from the laving down of explosives to the tremendous explosion of three mines, is shown. There are most vividi scenes of the men with pickaxe •and shovel deep down in the earth, of the banking up to prevent a backflash, and of the firing of the mine by electricity. The size of the huge craters made was sliown by a scene in which a company from England lined the rim. The third picture showed the men leaving the front for their short leave, their journey across, and their arrival in London. The whole series is a. ■great triumph for the kinem-atograiph. Ihiring the British advance, ikSnematograph operations have kept in touch with our troops. In common with -wail' correspondents, the operators have visited Fricourt, 'Xlametz. and Montauban, and have secured .some very fine pictures.
