I'SOPTHKRiX GRAIN AND PRODri'E Chn'.stehurch. August 20. The wheat market is somewhat unsettled. but prices are verv firm. A fairly keen demand exist*, but practically nothing is offering by growers. Tt is stated that there is plenty of wheat held in the country, but tlie recent tendency of the market to "firm" has caused growers to be less, jinxious to sell. Prime Tuncnn i.s said to be worth ts (>d to Is 7d. .and Pearl 5s to 5s Id. The extra variety is very scarce, and a good line would probably command more money. The pototo market is (inner. £7 now being paid for immediate delivery. Offerings are very limited at present. f,OXDON WOOL SAI7FK Dalgcty and Co.. A fu'l attendance of buyers was prpsont and competition throughout was keen. especially for skins and hides, hut owitiu to the absence of any demand from Japanese houses, price* for cTiitvliinjiP. in sympathy with other lending markets in the Dominion, showed a declne as compared with rates ruling at tir-r erutchings sales. Although it is very difficult to forecast the future market for iTiiteliings. it is the general opinion that this class of wool will not again reach the exceptionally high level ruting earlier in the season, and lather than hold on and risk the markets falling lower, we thought it advisable in our clients' interests to accept the prices offered. Skins, hides and tallow sold well up to last sale rates and we cleared the whole of our catalogue at very satisfactory prices.
