Resignation of Rev H. T. Stealey
♦ ; At a vestry meting held last evening, the Rev. H. T. Steaiey stated that . lie had been appointed ' by the board of nomination to succeed, the Rev. G. B. | Stephenson, vicar of Petone, and had j consequently forwarded his resignation of the cure of Levin to the Bishop I of Wellington. The-resignation' will ta k« effect on November oth. In niany ways, he said, he was eorry to leave Levin. He had met with nothing but kindness from the parishioners from the first day he came to this township. If the people of Petone
treated, him as well as his present parishioners had done he would have nothing to complain of. He said that he had accepted the paroclal district ot Petone for two reasons: first, because there was only one centre where services are held compared with the seven centres where he now conducted either Sunday or week-day services at the present time; and the second rea.son was that he would have an opportunity of regularly helping in Sunday school., worlc (lie would have no. Sunday services at Petone).
The board of nomination has appointed the Rev. G. B. Stephenson to sucoeed 'the Rev. H. '1. Stealey at Levin. He will take charge in three months' time. Sis appointment to Levin practically amounts to an exchange with the present vicar. Th following particnlars respecting the new vicar may "be of interest to our readers:—The Rev. G. B.
