Section two of the Horowlientr i Lake Act, ISJUS, is hereby amended by omitting til.' words "one-third at least the members of which shall be .Maori,;, io be appointed b,y the Government." The Hoard established under the viid Act shall consist of nine nienili is, to be appointed by the Governor. Of the said nine members, six shall be :;on hi,'ited by the Levin Borough Coiine I, and the tlir. e remaining members, shall he members of the Native rare. •i The member.? of (lie Hoard appointed under 111lis section shall hold office for a term of two years, but shall be eligible for reappointment. 1 (4.) In the event of a casual vac- . alley in the office of any member of tlie board, such vacancy shall be fill'd by appointment by the Governor iu the manner in which the original appointment was made, and every person so appointed' filial! hold office for the residue of the term of the vacating member. (•">.) The members of the Board in office nn the passing of this Act shall continue in office umtil the memhei-s appointed under this section come into oißoe.
(6.) The' Levin Borough Council may from time to time expend out of its district fund such .sums as it thinks fit for the improvement or benefit ol the reserve under tho said Horowhenua L'n-ke Act. 1905.
(7.) The board constituted by this section shall be deemed to be a local authority within the meaning of Part 111 of the Land Drainage Act, 1908. with respect to the reserve under its control nnd the Hokio stream, together with a strip of land one chain in width on each side of the waters of the said Hokio stream; and tue board shall have and may exeroise powers conferred on a local authority by the said I'-art 111 of that Act. (8). The powers hereby conferred oil tho boarcl slial? be exercised by it in conjunction with the Uorowhenua County Council. (D). Tile reserve under the Horowhonna Lake Act, 1905. comprises all that area, hereinafter described, name-ly:--All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing 951 acres, more or less, being the "Horowhennn Luke, together with a strip of land one chain in width at the margin of tho lake nnd surroundnng it on all sides, situated in Block XTIT, Mount Robinson Survey District, ITVockIT "Waitoliu Survey District, and Block T, AVaiopehu .Survey District, and bounded towards the north generally by Horowhennn lib 41 North Block, by Horo--.vfiefitifl, and again by Horo- , whenua lib 41 Nor tit Block: towards the east generally bv Horowheniiit 36 B'lock, and; by Horowhennn lib 40. lib 38. and llh 39 Blocks: towards the south and west generally by Horo- j whenua 11a RVick, by the 'abutment of Makomako' road, again by Horowhennn 11a Jilock, by Ruamatnngi Block, by part of Horowlienun 11a Block, and l.y the crossing of the Hokio .stream: as the same is delineated on a plan marked L nnd S 1/220 deposited at the headi office. Dopnrtment of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, thereon bordered red.
