RESPONSE TO LORD MAYOR'S APPEAL. In lesponse to the appeal from the Lord Mayor of London for gifts from tiie children of the overseas dominions, the boys of the Training Farm, under the managership of Major G. M. iDuriinson, have risen well to the occasion with gifts of money from their limited personal means, also wifch their handicrafts in fancy work, woollen garments, flower stands, fern and flower baskets.

While the flower stands were being made from supple-jacks other boys were collecting ferns and moss from th« bush for the baskets. In order to get t'he articles made in time for the sale the boys gave up their time for recreation and amusement.

The boys engaged in making the woollen goods were: Masters Webster, Probyn, H. Mitchell, O. Patterson, Corkery, G. Lawless, Eaios, Dennett, Williamson, Illings, Banton and Lash. Fancy work: Masters Wallish H. Martyn, Mitchell, J. Scully, W. Scully, Tapp, Haigh and Schaare.

Yesterday afternoon the goods were on exhibit in the giymnasium, to give the staff and boys an opportunity of seeing the work that had been done, on payment of entrance fee—staff 6d; boys (who had the money) 3d. During the exhibit the farm band gave patriotic selections. The total proceeds wil> be announced later.
