Reference was made at to-day's meet, i-ng of Levin Uo-operative Dairy Company, Ltd.. to the excellent services performed on its behalf by Air William Read, a retiring director. The shareholders passed a vote of thanks to Air Read, and directed the secretary to convey it to him in writing.

A tribute to the memory of the late -Mr Hawkins, one of the originators of the Loviii Co-operative Dairy Company, was paid by the members of the company at to-day's annual' meeting. The chairman spoke in appreciative phrase of Mr Hawkins's services ; he had taken control of the company at a stage when there were only three hundred cows as the company's source of supply, and by his assiduity had helped very much to advance the company towards prosperity.

A »<)ld medal given by the suppliers of Levin Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., was presented to Mr W. S. Death, of the dairy staff, to-day. 'Air Death volunteered for active service fionie little while back but after being in camp for training with the 10 th 'Reinforcements lie was finally rejected as unfit. To mark the dairy farmers' appreciation of Mr Death's patriotic spirit, a subscription was taken up at the factoiy, and with the amount raised a handsome gold medal was obtained. 111 making the presentation. Mr James I'iouso, chairman of directors of T.-evin Dairy Company, said Mr Death had been the company's butter maker tor a considerable time, and lie had been a very capable, painstaking and conscientious servant of the company. In a verv critical occasion in the company's history, Mr Death had stood manfully to the company's interests, and his action had been very much appreciated. In handing over the mo f.l Ali Prouee said the medal would he poivething for Mv Death to show, in the years to come, in proof of the general I's'eem in which he had been held. Mi T. Tj. Walker, speaking as nn old supplier to the company, also bore test.im'iuy to the excellent nature of the sen ices rendered to the company by Mr Death. In acknowledging the, presentation Mr (Death expressed his hearty thanks to the suppliers, but add''d that he had only done his duty as 11 mail.
