LEVIN STWK SALE. Dialgety and Co., Ltd., report- that at their weekly sale in Levin, on Wednesday -last, they offered an excopitionaiUy heavy yarding of sheep and a . faur one of cattle. The report runs: In sheep we had somo especially good lines of wethers end breeding ewes. The fat pens also wero all full, but competition for the latter class of stock was not animated, iprincipally because of vendors reserves being in excess of buyers' estimates of value. Very few sales of ifat sheep were made under the hammer, but at the close of the day a number of peas wore dieposed of by private treaty. In store wethers somo really good sheep came forward, but again, except in a few oases, reserves were too high to allow business) to pass. There was a keen demand for fat and forward cows; also for all classes "of steers, and a g&od clearanco of different lots offered was made. Tho principal Bales were as under:— Sheep.—Prime wethers 36s 6d, prime ewes 36e, light weight fat ewes 27a, medium weight fat wethers 30s to 31s. A line of 250 young breeding ewes sold on of Mr. Begg nrnde 32b Bd. Sniail shorn lambs 9s 6d. medium woolly lambs 18s to 19s, two and four-tooth store wethers 30s Id. empty ewes 18s to 21s. Cattle.—Light weight fat cows £8 10s to £8 12s fid, forward empty oows £7 14s, 18-montli empty heifers £3 11-s. store cows £4 3s to £4 18s, 2-year old steers £7 2s 6d, springing hoifers £G 2s 6d to £6.

Cauliflowers are slightly weaker, owing to larger supplies arriving. Lettuce is keenly bought up at high rates. Onrrots nn<l white turnips are more plentiful and prices are weak. Parsnips are in good demand. The demand for marrows and pumpkins ie bettor and prices have improved. (Swedes are hard to quit. Potatoes are firm at late rates. Oats are stationary. Wheat has hardened and prices show a tendency to increase. Good business is being done. Pollard and bran shotr little change; if anything the market is slightly weaker. Pork still is in very good' demland and the demand is far from satisfied. There is a good enquiry for Koney. Choice dessert apples are in excellent demand and good prices are realized.. Cooking apples are in fair demand. Choice dessert pears are realising good prices. Walnuts are enquired for.
