On the left bank of ' tlie Meuse our artillery was active on Hill 304, but there was no infantry attack. On the right bank, after an artillery preparation all tlie afternoon, the Germans attacked at eight o'clock in the evening north-west oF Thiaumont, buit were arrested by our curtain and machine gun fire.
