— * [per press association. 1 FOR THE WIDOWS AND ORPHANS - Christehurch, This Day. At a Quoting the Navy League last evening Mr A. Boyje made a strong appeal for help for the dependents ofthe men lost in the naval battle, and a motion was carried : 'Tliat this branch of the Navy League should inaugurate a Dominion Fund for the relief of the dependants of the men of the Royal Navy who have been lost the present war, and that the various Or<mehe* in New Zealand,, and others, be asked to co-operate." Auckland, This Day. The Navy League has cabled one hundred guineas to London to-day as an emergency gift for widows an' orphans oi the men lost in the recent naval battk;. The League is arranging for street collections to supplement this contribution.
