"THE TIMES" FUND
(From London Times ot Alaroli 24.) The Times i'und on behalf of the Uritish Red Cross Society and the Order ol St. John on Monday rcnched £3,336,676. A remarkable contribution, which we receive with peculiar gratitude, is thr sum of £386 5s Id, Subscribed by the inhabitants of Lemnos during the sojourn of the British troops in 'he island. The sum of £1000 is the result of a garden Fair and concert held at Colombo, from which source we understand that a further instalment is still to come. This is a special effort -additional to the monthly contribution of (about £130 which conies regularly from the Colombo War Fund and is n>io included in the list. Further aid (£1,500) ponies from the people of Gold C'oa-f and bringing the total of their contribution to ''Our Day" to the large -mm o! £6000. The fframsport of \\ ouncled' Fund profits to the extent of nearly £2000. The most considerable gifts to this mportant Red Cross service conies from the outdoor stall' of the Prudent : al Assurance Opmpany (£P00) and from two collections made at Coorg (S.lndia) md Java. Each of these contribute £450. Subscriptions should be sent to the Chairman of the Joint, finance Oomrtiittee, Sir Rebert Hudson, at 83 Pali Mall, S.W.j cheques being drawn to the Joint War Committee and crossed "Hank of England: not negotiable."
