HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL
SPECIAL IMEETLN'G
A special meeting of the Horowhenua Coutny Council was held in the Borough Chambers on Friday lor 'tie purpose of considering the- estimates and striking the rates tor the ensuing yeaa'. The chairman (Councillor <j. A. Monk) presided., and there also were present: Councillors G. N. Step'heiison, I'. W. Venn, I'. Ryder, H. Kroeman. S. A. Breadbolt, F. lletter, J. Kebbell and (J. P. Catley. A letter was received from Hankins, Fitzhei bert and Lockhnrt, solicitors, Palnierston North, on /behalf of Mr G. N. Wood, Shannon,- complaining of, a deep channel cut by the council along the road fronting his property, and which deprived Mr Wood of the use ol his frontage. The letter asked the council to give proper access to the property in question along the whole frontage, and that the council -pay the legal expenses incurred by Mr Wood to date. It was decided to seek legal advice on the matter. AY. W. Westaway, of Te Horo, wrote requesting an extension oi tho water race in order to give him a supply of water on his property. The request was referred to the councillors for the riding tor report. Loughiuaii and Jacobs made application tor Mr J. Chesnev, of Te Horo, for a line of pipes from a water race near his property. The application was referred to tlie councillors for the riding. The estimates as altered and passed by tlie Council will appear in our next issue.
