This is particularly the case in ' all distriots where the new recruiting scheme has been or is being carriedi out, and the figures given below, showing the number of infantry registered in each group up to tho 12th May for the 17th Reinforcements, whiiaß will not be mobilised to go to camp for framing for another fortnight, yet indicate that there is every likelihood of this draft coming at ful> strength. Whangarei short 37; group 4, Hamilton', short 58; total shortage for Auolciand military! district 17. Group 5, Wellington city, short 18; group 6, Palmerston North, short 40; group i, Napier, short 00; group 7a, Masterton short 20; group 8, Bawera, short 34; total shortage for Wellington military district 232. Group 9, Christ church city short 76; group 10, Timaru, pluß 1; group 11, | Kaiapoi, Bhorfc 37; group lla,iJrevmoutfi- short 31; group 12, Nelaoa short 7; total shortage Canterbury military district, 150.
