The bazaar organized by the Woraroa Ladies' UuilM in aid of the vVeraroa Ohurohrogm was opened in tne King's Theatre yesteaxlay. atternooa by the Mayor, audi a briet examination ol tho staii gave sufficient indication o t'the large amount ot work that was done iluciaft the last lew weeks in making thg nocostary preparations. 1110 stalls were Bet out to great advantage on the Jarge floor apace ot the_tneatire and wtfe decorated with shrubs ana greenery, while gooas made a most attractive display. The doors of tho theatre were opened again at 7 o'cVick in the evening, and a people intent on securing bargains, or ,o prize tor (3d per guessing .competitions to flock in, until in about an hour's time the building was filled wel'l. The chief attraction was tJie may polo dance performed twice by the children trained by Mrs Hanson. The evenness of tho colored ribbons, in the twisting, plaiting and lacing round tilie pole was proof of the precision in which the dancing was carried oat. Mm Matthews played the pianoforte accompaniment. The guessing competitions w<yn many but only one was decided last night and others will be open again to-night. The one setitted was wio guessung of the right number of beans in a bottle, and the prize a suckin<; ' pig. The number of beans proved ■to be 525, and tlhe nearest guess J. .Lang with 600. The Egyptian curios exhibited by Mrs Banks, of Weraroa, proved interesting and drew a large amount ol attention. Somo fine samples oi fancy needlework also were shown at stall whioh was in charge of Mrs .Brown, Mrs MoKadn and Mass Malcolm. The other stalls were: Plain and fancy work, Mesdames Hanson, White and .Hughes; produce stall, Mesdames wood and Smith; refreshments stall, ■Aiesdanjes Howell. AiThitaiker, Dodson and Stmvbridige; soft drinks. Misses b'harman and Hanson; flower stall, Mrs Hcirrick and friends. Tho ladies specially desire to thank 1 Mr F'arland, manager of the treatre, for his kindness in letting .them the use of building, and the general assistance ho gave thetm. The boys' band from the \\ erai'ca Training Farm played several selec- / tione outside the theatre, and atterwards several more on the stage. The bazaar will be opened again at 7 o'clock this evening and an additional attraction will be the screening ot a picture entitled "Oliver Twist adapted trom Charles Dickens's famous story. - HT-———M—
