Levin Borough Council
Members ol the Jjoviii liorougu Council mot iu the borough council chambers iafit evening. There were present:—The Mayor (Mr O. JJlenkhorn), Councillors M. h. Heraiok, S. Jones, J. Itobertson, A. Dempsey, and M. li. Trance. Councillor ToseUia enquired to what extent the people in charge of churches, hails, and other public resorts, had. carried out the recent recommendation of the council that they disinfect all such buiiuings. Continuing, Councillor i'oseila said tnat the water curt only was kept going m the_centre o! the town, and the dust came 111 from the outside streets. The water cart also .should have been sent to Iteeves street on the occasion ol the recent tangi. The Mayor considered that tin; people concerned would pay the necessary attention to the recommendation. The Town Clerk said that the water cart had been sent clown to iieeves street on the Friday morning— taie day 01 the funeral. Counciljor France's notice of motion that the council rescind its resolution giving authority to build a water trougn in Queen street lor the use 01 horses was discussed. lie had seconded the resolution at the time, but .tad been coiivertedi to the opposite view f-;inoe. Councillor Denipsey considered they couldi jut it stand over ror u time— councillors might- change their mind again. CounoiUors Robertson and Jones considered the trough should be uuiit. 'but Councilor Momck did not t'-i it needed, at present. The motion was carried, the Mayor, and Councillors, Fosella, Heriick and trance voted for it.
