On Saturday evening about eight o'clock, « porker was taken from .Mr O'Connor's farm, and the mother tinned adrift. Constable Gerald visited Manakau, and more is likely to be heard of the matter. Mr Jensen, who has been butter maker at the Otaki Dairy Company fot some time, lias severed his c. nnection with the firm, and left 011 Saturday for the Palmorston district to accept a more 'lucrative position.
As the result of a sale of badges, flagp, flowers, sweets, etc.. in Otaki. on Sa.turdav, the sum of about £I' 2 tvas raised towards the French Red Cross Fund. 'Mr F. J. Ryder has definitely decided to stand for the vacancy, caused by resignation of Mr G. Watson, on the Horowhenua County Courted. Mr Ryder has been approached on all sides, and there is no doubt that he will, if elected, ho one of the best councillors. A cablegram has been received from Captain Pirimi Tahiwi, now in hospital in London, to the effect; that he has undergone a successful operation, and that the 'bullet which entered his body has heen extracted. At. the time of eendrng the cable ho reported himself as quite well again. Corporal Hotiare Tahiwi, his brother, is still in hospital in Wellington.
