The Otaki Dairy Company pleaded guilty, in the Magistrate's Court ;<o \\ el'ingrton oil Monday, to having sent to the grading store butter containing more than 10 per cent, of moist j ;e. A line ol 20s, with 7b costs, was imposed. Mi : Van Staveren appeared for the company. It has been decided to hold the anil uai Harvest Festival in connection with the Otaki Methodist Clmrcli, o.'i •SuiKiay, 20th inst., and an auction sale of the harvest olierings the following evening. The Chuioh AiTmvaraary will be celebrated on tounday, April 1(3 th Two ardent followers of Ibaac Walton—.Messrs F. H. Bright and Fred Edwards—have whipped the Otaki river with great success, and last nigjht again lauded some ol' the best fish yet caught in the stream. Tile first -ii. landed by the former weighed about 2olbs while the previous evening he caught some almost fully as heavy. At the present the fish are ai excellent oondition, and ior flavour are unsurpassed. Mrs P. A. D. Mickle, wife of the headmaster of the Maiiakau school if assisting as temporary teacher at the Manakau school, owing to a shortage of tealchers. A general meeting of members of the Otaki Patriotic Society will he held at the Druid's Hall, Otaiki, on Friday evening, when steps will be taken in connection with the freehold proi>erty gift- art union, and general 'business will come up for transaction. All members of the Society- flSe cordially invited to attend. A oommittee meeting will be held after >the general meeting. Another Yankee tournament Combined Double match was played .on the Otaki tennis counts yesterday, when a very interesting game, with an exciting finish, was played between Oowie and .Miss Pearless, owe 15, v. Takerei and Miss Raplev. roe. 3-6tTis of 15, U-8. Playing in the second round of the Men's Single Handicap, J'en defeated Lees, o—3, 4—6. after a good match • Both players started off scratch.
