Rust in Wheat

Rust unfortunately ihias displayed itself in the wheat areas in the Rangitikei district, -where this year especially large areas are under cultivation. Some samples showed they wero. badly tainted with rust, and. the far nier Bending them said tnat one of the samples was of .Federation wheat and the other solid straw itself during the lafit few days, and from appearance, it looked as if the wheat might co:no R, nothing. The crop from which th:samples wore taken had looked a seventy-bushel crop. Oats growing alongside showed fio signs of disease. The Pri.mn Minister has' informal • tho'.Minister, f.or Agriculture of the mattor, who will make due investigation. It is now apparent- that most of the North Island crops have this unfortunate taint.
