ERECTION OF FENCES
A fence of any of the kinds mentioned in the So con d Schedule is a t-ui'-licient fonce within the meaning of the Fencing Act (5.7).
The occupiers of adjoining lands uot divided by a sufficient fence are liable bo join in or contributo in equal proportions to the erection oi a fence tie*tween such lands, although such feuco may not extend along the whole boundary line. But no occupier is liable to contribute to any fenco whicn is not, an far as praotic&hl©, ©cxaiinuoas throughout its length.

When it is desired to form a iu ,vn, the ground should he trenched aa directed for the vegetable garden any tiino during the autumn. If the plot can be prepared in March, a season may be gamed by (sowing the grass seed during that month; the surface must bo thoroughly pulverised ,uid trodden down firmly. Tho following is a good mixture, ii procurable: — Crested Dog-tail, 21 Us; Festuca teuuifoiia, 41bs; .Festuea duruscuhi, 2lbs; Lolitnu tenuifolia perenne, 201bs; White clover ,21bs; Trifolium minor, dibs; Poa Nemoralis and Sempervirens 41b.? of each. Thin mixture will "uffice for half an acre, and will form a very good lawn, and if kept cut close answers most soils. Special mixtures for laying down lawns may also be nad from any seedsman. Some of our native poaa and other grasses would answer admirably lor lawn purposes. 11 the ground is of a retentive nature, sowing the seeds should be deferred till. August. Commence to cut as soon as the machine will act. Some )refer the scythe for tlie hist time of cutting. Itoll previous to mowing; this will save the knives ol tho mower.
