» SOUTHERN GlUliN AND PRODUCE. Oiiristchurch, Dec. 1-i. The wheat market, remains practically unchanged. Millers and merchants are well stocked, and are supplying the northern demand; for wheat. The price obtained is aibout 5s (3d t.O/). and represents a heavy loss on what the wheat costs. Practically nothing is offering by growers who are still holding wheat. The quantity of wheat sdd ex store during the past few days amounts to about 8000 or $000 sacks.
Beyond a few showers in parts ol Canterbury and North Otago condition's remain dry. A number of light crops of oats have been cut and stooked anu some crops of wheat that were damaged by frosts have been out lor bey. Olu wheat growers say they have never known frost do so much damage betore to wheat in Canterbury. Ihe reason being-that the crops were so forwarti on account of the dry season and the frost was so late and severe. l'otato crops that were cut down by frost are making, a slow recovery. A good rain i 3 requirod to ensure anything like an averago crop this season.
