The Mayoress, Mrs C. JJlenkhorn, presided. On the motion ui Airs iiichter, seconded by -\lrs Kirkcaldie, it was decided to give the desired assistance. At the in.siaric-o of Mrs Gardener a buhscription list was opened at the Meeting and to canvas the town and meeting, and it was decided to canvass the town ami district for further sub- / senpfcons. Further subscriptions are desired, andi anyone who wishes to contribute and who may not be called upon by canvassers can. leave their contributions at the borough chambers up till Saturday evening. In response to the appeal lrom 'Wellington it was decided to assist as much as possible ui the waking of the holdalls and liussifs. A meeting to make the necessary arrangements will be held in the first lew days in January. It aiso was decided to recommence the auction sales, so successful last year, in January next.
