MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting-ot the Horowhenua County Council was helu oil Saturday. There were present: Councillors G. Watson (.chairman), (j. ■X. (Stephenson, G. P. Uately, G. A. Monk, S. A. J3roa<l.belt, I'. C. Potter, 11. Freeman. Councillors Venn and ivebbell were, granfed leave of absence. The lamplighter at Shannon, W. Sutler, in reply to a letter from the council, stated that ho had not neglected Jus duties. If the council .thought that he did they could get someone else to do tlio work. Tlio present plant in his opinion was a failure. Councillor tStephenson said that the lighting now was done satistactorily. A deputation consisting of Major Addiington and Air Cook waited 011 the council a.sking it to affix its seal to a plan of a road entailing an overbridgo over the railway line at ie Tioro. The council wished an indemnity in tho matter of the overhead bridge, but tlio deputation demurred, considering that the council would not be liable.
The council agreed to attix its bc«l,providling -Major Addingum gives the council a satisfactory indemnity.
