Fatal Accident at Manakau

An accident, resulting in the death ot a passenger on the south-bound New Plymouth express occurred at Manakan last evening. The victoni, whose name last night was said to be Simpson but given this morning as Spencer, was'a resident of Lower liutt, and was about H8 years of age. Ho waa in the carriage next to the engine, and as the train was pulling into the stution had his head out of tTlc window, and was struck by the tablet arm on the platform, receiving such injuries that he died shortly after being removed t< the Otoki Hospital. It is not known whethor tlie tablet arm, which was broken by the impact, tailed to swing back, or whether it caught the unfortunate man when it was swinging back. An inquest is being held at Qiflki this morning.
